On this blog i will attempt to showcase anything i learn about the Budweiser brand over the next few months, and as I learn about the Brand I hope to improve my ability to create an attractive blog.

I selected Budweiser not because I’m an ardent admirer of their Beer ( which I’m sure is most agreeable ), but because I still double up with gut wrenching laughter every time I hear their Real Men of Genius radio jingles (which i will hopefully figure out how to post here).

Right now I will attempt to answer some basic questions about the Budweiser Brand.

Brand Image

The image this brand conveys, is relaxed good times, with plenty of laughs for good measure- its the brand that made it socially acceptable for grown men, and teenagers with ID cards that substantiate their claim of being grown men to bellow WAAAAZZZZZZAAAAA at one another.

Through this brand we celebrated the triumph of the Foot long hot dog inventor, the male football cheer leader and the hundreds of other people who make our lives just a little more enjoyable, even if its at thier own expense.

Its the brand of the sports fan, albeit American sports, watching the game, having a Bud is a line familiar to almost everybody. The fact that we are completely ignorant when it comes to exactly what the sport is, doesn’t reflect in any way our knowledge of the brand.

Its not a brand that takes itself or its customers too seriously, and for that reason its bound to be the beer of choice for the class clown, the guy who thinks knocking off a toupee is funny, or the guy who just finished a six day work week and would like to bring in the day of rest with a mild hang over.

Brand Loyalty:

Bud ranks third in the 2007 Brand Keys Customer Loyalty Engagement Index for light beer and fourth for regular beer.

Bud ranks behind major beer manufacturers such as Miller and Coors, both brands focus on the more serious side of beer consumption, and these brands base their appeal on the fact that they have strong traditions, right from the stories of how they were first brewed to the sort of men who enjoy the beer.

Bud is a brand thats popular among younger people and its possible that people outgrow the brand and switch to more serious brands. this may also explain why Bud lite ranks higher than the regular beer.

Level of Recognition and Recall:

The very name Budweiser is synonymous with laid back, good times with close friends. Its a brand closely tied in with Sports, and even in countries where the Budweiser beer is not available, people are aware of the Brand, and wassabi, is probably a favorite mythical dish in Chinese restaurants.

Te radio jingles are quite possibly the funniest commercials aired. The brand has enjoyed brilliant advertising, and hence enjoys amazing levels of Brand recognition even among people who have never experienced the product.
